LEXIS HIBISCUS, PORT DICKSON – Part 1: THE RESORT

To say that Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson is huge is an understatement. When we visited this prime vacationing paradise located at the 12th mile of Jalan Pantai, Port Dickson, it’s like entering a whole exclusive mini township on its own.

The immensely spacious reception

Beyond the vast reception area, once we hopped onto the buggy that took us to our sea-view Panorama Pool Villa, I felt like we were transported into a retreat in another realm. The sheer size, design and indulgent luxury of the villas took our breath away.

Buggy ride, anyone?

Where’s our villa?

When viewed from an aerial point, this iconic resort forms a stunning pattern of the hibiscus, with various types of villas making up the petals, leaves and stigma of the national flower. I mean, Lexis Hibiscus has been cited as the largest water homes development in the world and that’s quite an impressive fact. The water villas stretch out to more than a kilometre from the beach to the furthest unit at sea!

And somewhere out there, there’s a 400-foot water fountain spouting colorful sprays high up into the sky – it’s the tallest water fountain in Malaysia, after all.

Just look at that water fountain!

Like every villa in this resort, our Panorama Pool Villa was really spacious, housing 2 king-sized beds with private dip pool and huge bathroom. One cool feature was the clever “hiding” of the LED tv into the wall panel and we loved the glass panel on the floor giving us a view of the sea below.

Two huge king beds in our villa yo!

Sunset, viewed from our own pool!

Besides the Panorama Pool Villa, there are the Executive Pool Villas (the “leaf” part of the resort design), Premium Pool Villas (the “petals”) and the Imperial Suites (the “stamen”) with the Presidential Suites at the very tip of the stamen.

Over at the main building, there’s the Sky Pool Villas and Royal Suites (for those who are not keen on staying “on the sea”!)

Lexis Hibiscus is perfect for family holidays as well as for corporate getaways for meetings and events. Their Hibiscus Grand Ballroom, with a height of more than 7m can be partitioned into 4 separate rooms and there are also many other function rooms of various sizes. Another venue is the Sky Ballroom with a commanding view from the 13th floor.

Don’t you love those gorgeous lightings?

There’s also a spa – LexSpa in the main building to pamper guests with body therapies and beauty treatments. That’s something right up my alley!

Families with young kids would be pleased to know that there’s Kidz World to entertain the little ones. The vibrantly colorful enclosed area spells “happiness” and “fun” with a range of activities to amuse kids and keep them busy.

We didn’t have time to check out the Starz Karaoke on level 2. For budding singers, the state-of-the-art AV equipment would bring squeals of delight and there are 3 rooms equipped with this sleek set-up.

One of the highlights of our visit here was the helicopter ride. The 6-minute flight took us for an aerial experience to view the stunning resort and the abundant foliage surrounding it.

Boarding the heli!

Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson is the kind of resort to spend lots of time outdoors as there are various water and non-water activities available. Besides the usual water-sports stuff like water skiing, jet skiing, kayaking and banana boat rowing, guests can take a cruise out on the waters of the Straits of Malacca on the catamaran service. Kids would love the glass-bottomed boat catered for fish-feeding trips out at sea.

You won’t be bored in Lexis Hibiscus, for sure!

We had fun with the Nine Bot Segway and bicycles, both of which took us around the resort for a little exploring. We explored Hibiscus Walk – an al fresco dining foodcourt with stalls manned by resort staff. It comes alive from evening onwards – there’s even a singing duo to entertain guests as they dine on satay, mee goreng, roti canai and such. For me, I had a good foot massage at the Wellness corner!

When the sun sets, Hibiscus Walk takes on a whole different persona…
